★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di San Giorgio di Mercurago è costituita da due parti: la posteriore, antica, costituita dall'odierno presbiterio, dal campanile e dalla sacrestia, e l'anteriore, moderna, destinata ai fedeli.
Quest'ultima ha pianta poligonale, ed è neorinascimentale (1884-85).
L'antico edificio, anche se privato della facciata, è giunto a noi pressoché intatto ed è databile, probabilmente all'ultimo quarto del XV secolo. Tuttavia la complessa articolazione dell'edificio fa presupporre diverse fasi costruttive che si sono svolte durante almeno un secolo.
Il campanile è di origine medioevale, fino alla cella campanaria, costruita invece nel XVIII secolo.
The church of San Giorgio di Mercurago is made up of two parts: the rear, ancient, consisting of today's presbytery, bell tower and sacristy, and the front, modern, intended for the faithful.
The latter has a polygonal plan, and is Neo-Renaissance (1884-85).
The ancient building, although without the facade, has come down to us almost intact and can be dated, probably to the last quarter of the fifteenth century. However, the complex articulation of the building suggests several construction phases that took place over at least a century.
The bell tower is of medieval origin, up to the belfry, built instead in the eighteenth century.
