★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa Romanica di San Donato alla Foce (XIII secolo)
Nel territorio della parrocchia di Madonna del Ponte, lungo l'antica strada della Contessa, di fronte al fiume San Donato, nella gola della Foce, incontriamo un vero gioiello architettonico d'inestimabile valore religioso e artistico.
Il primo documento a noi pervenuto risale al 1252: Papa Innocenzo IV concede indulgenze a chi offre denaro per il monastero e la chiesa delle Monache di San Donato dell'Ordine di San Damiano.
Nel convento si avvicendarono vari istituti religiosi: i monaci di San Benedetto, che risiedevano nel vicino oratorio di San Matteo — San Sperandio (1302); gli Olivetani presenti con 20 monaci (1338); i Benedettini (1420). Lungo i secoli subentrarono altri proprietari, fino al 1861 quando il Seminario di Gubbio intraprende imponenti restauri dell'edificio ormai fatiscente, come attesta la scritta sulla parete del presbiterio.
 The Romanesque Church of San Donato alla Foce (13th century)
In the territory of the parish of Madonna del Ponte, along the ancient Contessa road, in front of the San Donato river, in the Foce gorge, we find a true architectural jewel of inestimable religious and artistic value.
The first document we have received dates back to 1252: Pope Innocent IV grants indulgences to those who offer money for the monastery and the church of the Nuns of San Donato of the Order of San Damiano.
Various religious institutes took turns in the convent: the monks of San Benedetto, who resided in the nearby oratory of San Matteo - San Sperandio (1302); the Olivetans present with 20 monks (1338); the Benedictines (1420). Over the centuries other owners took over, until 1861 when the Seminary of Gubbio undertook massive restorations of the now dilapidated building, as evidenced by the writing on the wall of the presbytery.
