Un plauso è doveroso all'organizzazione che ci ha permesso la sua visita accompagnati da una guida molto preparata e sicuramente innamorata e fiera del suo territorio. Il giusto mix necessario per far decollare il turismo di questa regione. Personally I believe that this small rock church can be counted among the most beautiful I have visited between Puglia and Basilicata. An applause is a must to the organization that allowed us his visit accompanied by a very prepared guide and certainly in love and proud of its territory. The right mix needed to get tourism in this region off the ground.

E ha un biglietto di ingresso di 8 € da pagare in loco . La cripta è un gioiello, scavata nella roccia, ricca di storia . La pittura più importante è l'incontro di tre vivi con tre morti, unico nel suo genere, si attribuisce all'immagine di Federico II e la sua famiglia in abito da falconiere. Il signor Michele è una persona squisita e preparata, che ha valorizzato ancor di più la meraviglia della visione. Affreschi di varie scuole e età, in gran parte ben conservati. Affreschi che la pietra Vulcanica ha saputo custodire attraverso i secoli, per restituirci l'intimo legame tra uomo, fede e natura. Qui la famiglia dell'Imperatore Federico di Svevia incontra in metafora la morte. A livella che ricorda che siamo tutti uguali, fatti di carne, ossa, cervello e cuore e che abbiamo solo questa vita per lasciare tracce di ingegno, operosità e rispetto. E	Elena Casa on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stupenda chiesa rupestre, scavata nel tufo, sita nelle vicinanze del moderno cimitero cittadino, dove si può parcheggiare. Biglietto 8 euro. Siamo arrivati in loco verso le 11,45 ed alla fine della visita precedente siamo entrati senza prenotazione. La grotta risale al X secolo, mentre gli affreschi al XIII secolo. Ogni pellegrino-monaco vi lasciava una storia affrescata. Fu voluta dai monaci basiliani provenienti dall'Anatolia, che diffusero in zona il culto per S. Michele Arcangelo, di cui vi sono due affreschi nella cappella laterale di sinistra. Sul fondo della navata, dietro l'altare, vi è l'affresco di Santa Margherita di Antiochia con a fianco i SS. Pietro e Paolo. Notevole è l'affresco dell'incontro tra tre vivi (si pensa tra Federico II di Svevia - con falcone e giglio - e famiglia) e due scheletri. Ricorda che tutti moriremo. Altri interessanti affreschi sono quelli della Madonna in trono, di S.Andrea, crocefisso su una rara croce ad ypsilon, S.Orsola, San Lorenzo e Santo Stefano.
