★ ★ ★ ★ ★ L'attuale parrocchiale di Cerano è relativamente recente, essendo stata consacrata nel 1488 ed edificata, con tutta probabilità, nel corso del XV Secolo. La chiesa subì successivamente una vera rivoluzione architettonica: nel Seicento fu edificata la cupola ed elevato il campanile, mentre nella seconda metà dell'Ottocento venne notevolmente ampliata e si eresse la nuova facciata, le cui forme complesse rimandano a certo stile neorinascimentale.
Il suo interno a tre navate, riccamente decorato in stile barocco, contiene preziose opere d'arte, fra le quali spicca per importanza il dipinto di un'Ultima Cena, datato 1595 e posto nella cappella a destra dell'altare maggiore, opera giovanile di Giovan Battista Crespi detto il Cerano (1573 - 1632), fra i maggiori pittori del primo Seicento lombardo.
L'importanza e le peculiarità della chiesa sono innegabili, tuttavia avrebbe bisogno di un buon restauro della facciata per recuperare tutta la sua bellezza.
The current parish church of Cerano is relatively recent, having been consecrated in 1488 and probably built during the fifteenth century. The church subsequently underwent a real architectural revolution: in the seventeenth century the dome was built and the bell tower raised, while in the second half of the nineteenth century the new façade was significantly enlarged and erected, whose complex shapes refer to a certain neo-Renaissance style.
Its interior with three naves, richly decorated in Baroque style, contains precious works of art, among which the painting of a Last Supper, dated 1595 and placed in the chapel to the right of the main altar, stands out for its importance. Giovan Battista Crespi known as Cerano (1573 - 1632), among the greatest painters of the early seventeenth century in Lombardy.
The importance and peculiarities of the church are undeniable, however it would need a good restoration of the facade to recover all its beauty.
