Fu costruita dai frati benedettini intorno al 1100 e dedicata a San Benedetto, in seguito fu assegnata ai frati cappuccini verso il 1600. Nel 1902 divenne monumento nazionale. Pregevole altare ligneo barocco che copre l'intera parete, sono presenti diversi dipinti ad olio tra i quali spicca un Cristo crocifisso e ai suoi piedi San Berardo (protettore della città) e San Francesco. Fa parte della parrocchia dello Spirito Santo e il parroco è il "grande" don Valentino Riccioni da 55 anni.
Da febbraio 2020, per motivi di salute don Valentino ha rassegnato le dimissioni da parroco. L'attuale parroco è don Delfino.
Church absolutely to visit in the center of Teramo, parking in the nearby Piazza Dante. It was built by the Benedictine monks around 1100 and dedicated to San Benedetto, later it was assigned to the Capuchin friars around 1600. In 1902 it became a national monument. Valuable baroque wooden altar that covers the entire wall, there are several oil paintings among which a crucified Christ stands out and at his feet San Berardo (protector of the city) and San Francesco. It is part of the parish of the Holy Spirit and the parish priest has been the "great" Don Valentino Riccioni for 55 years.
Since February 2020, for health reasons, Fr Valentino has resigned as parish priest. The current parish priest is Don Delfino.
