Negli anni seguenti, fu proprietà dei confratelli di Santa Maria Turrita. L’edificio risale al XII secolo e costituisce una delle più antiche chiese montefalchesi: la prima documentazione al riguardo è dell’aprile 1220. Si trova immersa tra gli stretti vicoli del borgo, in una parte inaccessibile a mezzi motorizzati. Sembra ferma nel tempo con il suo caratteristico aspetto medievale. La Chiesa di Santa Lucia ebbe un importante ruolo per Montefalco; per tutto il XIII secolo furono rogati molti atti notarili al suo interno. Nel 1231 furono aggregate ad essa altre chiese rurali. Mentre nel 1295 passò dai Benedettini nelle mani del capitolo della Cattedrale di Spoleto, che ne decretò il declino, lasciandola in uno stato di abbandono. Nel 1727 il vescovo dispose il restauro della parte posteriore, che versava in pessime condizioni, e nel 1793 il Comune di Montefalco lottò invano affinché non venisse demolita la parte pericolante. Da lì a poco crollò anche il tetto della porzione integra dell’edificio e si dovette attendere fino al 1916 per un restauro, al quale seguì quello del 1977. Oggi la chiesa conserva un piccolo campanile a vela sulla facciata a capanna, e frammenti di affreschi del XIV secolo all’interno. The church of Santa Lucia was built in Montefalco by the Benedictine monks of Santo Stefano in Manciano di Trevi. In the following years, it was owned by the brothers of Santa Maria Turrita. The building dates back to the twelfth century and is one of the oldest churches in Montefalco: the first documentation in this regard dates back to April 1220. It is immersed in the narrow alleys of the village, in a part inaccessible to motorized vehicles. It seems to have stood still in time with its characteristic medieval aspect. The Church of Santa Lucia played an important role for Montefalco; throughout the thirteenth century many notarial deeds were drawn up inside. In 1231 other rural churches were added to it. While in 1295 it passed from the Benedictines into the hands of the chapter of the Cathedral of Spoleto, who decreed its decline, leaving it in a state of neglect. In 1727 the bishop ordered the restoration of the rear part, which was in poor condition, and in 1793 the Municipality of Montefalco fought in vain to prevent the unsafe part from being demolished. Shortly thereafter, the roof of the intact portion of the building also collapsed and it was necessary to wait until 1916 for a restoration, which was followed by that of 1977. Today the church retains a small bell gable on the gabled façade, and fragments of frescoes from the fourteenth century inside.
