La chiesa è rimasta chiusa per moltissimi anni, le statue dei santi sono state trasferite a Santa Caterina a Formiello, e la chiesa è visibilmente non in uso. Da qualche tempo è stata trasformata in una sede dall'incredibile valore umanitario: volontari medici e non offrono gratuitamente un servizio medico si poveri, che altrimenti non potrebbero permettersi tale privilegio; la chiesa è piena di medicinali da destinare a tale scopo, e le sale interne sono state adibite a studi, garantendo comunque una certa privacy. La chiesa è conosciuta come chiesa di San Ciro, nonostante nasca come chiesa di San Tommaso a Capuana, ed onora il santo medico pellegrino cercando di soccorrere i bisognosi secondo le possibilità dei volontari. Spero che venga pubblicizzata maggiormente questa splendida iniziativa.
