★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa molto grande, accogliente è bella. Spicca imponente nella popolosa (ma non troppo) frazione di San Pietro. Spero ci sia sempre chi la curi e la adoperi come centro di aggregazione.
Very large, welcoming and beautiful church. It stands out imposingly in the populous (but not too much) hamlet of San Pietro. I hope there will always be those who take care of it and use it as an aggregation center.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa venne dall’antichità chiamata di S. Pietro a Siepi perché edificata in territorio "Saepis” . Risale all’XI sec.; è tra le chiese più importanti e meglio conservate della nostra città. Il bel portale è affiancato da due affreschi laterali raffiguranti gli Apostoli Pietro e Paolo. Al suo interno opere del ’500, bassorilievi in marmo nella sacrestia che rappresentano i quattro evangelisti e l’altorilievo di Santa Maria della Catena sull’altare a lei dedicato nella navata sinistra. Il bel crocifisso ligneo del ’600, nella cappella a destra dell’altare maggiore, è opera dello scultore Giacomo Colombo (1663-1731). Nella sacrestia un ricco archivio parrocchiale che conserva molti documenti importanti e un interessante e ricco museo impreziosito da antichi paramenti e accessori sacri.
The church came from antiquity called S. Pietro a Siepi because it was built in the "Saepis" territory. It dates back to the 11th century; it is one of the most important and best preserved churches in our city. The beautiful portal is flanked by two side frescoes depicting the Apostles Peter and Paul. Inside works of the '500, marble bas-reliefs in the sacristy representing the four evangelists and the high-relief of Santa Maria della Catena on the altar dedicated to her in the left aisle. The beautiful wooden crucifix of the' 600, in the chapel to the right of the main altar, is the work of the sculptor Giacomo Colombo (1663-1731) In the sacristy there is a rich parish archive which preserves many important documents and an interesting and rich museum embellished with ancient vestments and sacred accessories.
