La cappella è legata agli apprestamenti difensivi del Castello Normanno di Caggiano. Nei pressi delle due porte era la cappella dedicata a san Luca, conosciuta anche come "Cappella della Guardia". I primi apprestamenti difensivi risalgono forse al IX-X secolo. È situata nel Centro Storico della città e fu eretta da una confraternita.
DescrizioneLa piccola chiesa si presenta a pianta rettangolare e ad unica navata. L'ingresso avviane dal centro storico in corrispondenza di un ballatoio sulla gradinata che porta al Castello. La facciata principale reca un piccolo ingresso con infisso in legno e la soprastante icona del Santo a cui essa è intitolata.

The chapel is linked to the defensive preparations of the Norman Castle of Caggiano. Near the two doors was the chapel dedicated to St. Luke, also known as the "Cappella della Guardia". The first defensive preparations probably date back to the IX-X century. It is located in the historic center of the city and was built by a brotherhood.
Description The small church has a rectangular plan and a single nave. The entrance starts from the historic center at a balcony on the steps leading to the Castle. The main façade has a small entrance with a wooden frame and the icon of the saint above which it is dedicated.
