La sua presenza rende ancora più speciale il Passo di Giau, i cui pascoli furono per secoli aspramente contesi tra la comunità ampezzana e quella sanvitese. La disputa andò avanti fino a quando la Repubblica della Serenissima la risolse d'autorità facendo erigere un esteso muro a secco, chiamato Muraglia di Giau, che demarcava il confine tra le due comunità contendenti.
Small, pretty and evocative, a high mountain church characterized by the very steep slopes of the roof. Its presence makes the Passo di Giau even more special, whose pastures were for centuries bitterly contested between the Ampezzo and the Sanvitese communities. The dispute went on until the Republic of the Serenissima resolved its authority by erecting an extensive dry wall, called the Muraglia di Giau, which demarcated the border between the two contending communities.
