I am an assiduous Catholic but the joy I felt entering the church was indescribable: crowded church and warm lights turned on with the statue of the Madonna on the right and that of San Domenico on the left made me experience a heavenly atmosphere. I'm not telling you about the parish priest who managed to attract attention during the sermon of the whole assembly. Thank you for giving me these moments of faith

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa Matrice di Martano, dedicata alla Madonna Assunta, fu ricostruita nel 1596 così come si evince dall'epigrafe posta sul portale, su un antico edificio di rito greco. Bellissimo ed elegante il prospetto in stile barocco ed il portale d'accesso sormontato da una nicchia in cui è posizionata la statua dell'Assunta. L'interno, a croce latina con tre navate, ospita alcuni altari barocchi del XVII e XVIII secolo tra i quali si distinguono quelli della Madonna Annunziata. Chiesa molto bella e gestita da persone molto accoglienti e gentili.
The Mother Church of Martano, dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, was rebuilt in 1596 as can be seen from the epigraph placed on the portal, on an ancient building of the Greek rite. The Baroque style façade and the access portal surmounted by a niche in which the statue of the Assumption is positioned is beautiful and elegant. The interior, in the shape of a Latin cross with three naves, houses some baroque altars from the 17th and 18th centuries, among which those of the Madonna Annunziata stand out. Very beautiful church run by very welcoming and kind people.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Chiesa madre nascosta nel centrio del paese di Martano. L'ingresso da su una stradina percorribile solo a piedi molto stretta. L'interno é ampio e luminoso consentendo di vedere le pitture e i decori degli altari all'interno.
Mother Church hidden in the center of the town of Martano. The entrance is on a small road that can only be walked on very narrow. The interior is large and bright allowing you to see the paintings and decorations of the altars inside.
