È contemporanea alla chiesa principale della città, la Basilica di San Giacomo: infatti, entrambe risalgono all'XI-XII secolo (precisamente, la chiesa di San Giorgio è datata fra il 1080 e il 1120). Nel corso dei secoli, ha subito diverse modifiche strutturali e rifacimenti, ma lo stile romanico, tipico dell'epoca in cui fu costruita la chiesa, è presente nei muri perimetrali, nelle finestre a strombo (cioè con lo stipite tagliato obliquamente verso l'interno o l'esterno) e nel piccolo portale. Molto caratteristico il campanile che è a cavalcioni di un piccolo portico, lungo Salita Genazzini; all'interno, si trovano un affresco risalente all'XI secolo della Madonna della Cintura ed una statua lignea della stessa. The small church of San Giorgio is located next to the town hall of Bellagio. It is contemporary to the main church of the city, the Basilica of San Giacomo: in fact, both date back to the 11th-12th century (precisely, the church of San Giorgio is dated between 1080 and 1120). Over the centuries, it has undergone several structural changes and renovations, but the Romanesque style, typical of the era in which the church was built, is present in the perimeter walls, in the conch windows (i.e. with the jamb cut obliquely inwards or outside) and in the small portal. The bell tower which straddles a small portico along Salita Genazzini is very characteristic; inside, there is a fresco dating back to the eleventh century of the Madonna della Cintura and a wooden statue of the same.
