★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La chiesa di S. Maria si pensa fondata nel 766 ed è registrata regolarmente nei verbali delle visite pastorali. Alla fine del Seicento dipendeva dalla chiesa di Gello l’oratorio di “S. Spirito a Ponti” , forse corrispondente all’antico spedale. La chiesa romanica fu radicalmente trasformata nel secolo XVIII e ne fu invertito l’orientamento. I lavori sono documentati dal 1724 fino al 1774 quando furono completati dal parroco Pietro Maestripieri. Della chiesa medioevale rimane parte della facciata (recuperata durante lavori di restauro nel 1972) ed un tratto della parete sud con la struttura integra della porta lunettata.
The church of S. Maria is thought to have been founded in 766 and is regularly recorded in the minutes of pastoral visits. At the end of the seventeenth century the oratory of "St. Spirito a Ponti ”, perhaps corresponding to the old hospital. The Romanesque church was radically transformed in the XVIII century and its orientation was reversed. The works are documented from 1724 until 1774 when they were completed by the parish priest Pietro Maestripieri. Part of the facade remains of the medieval church (recovered during restoration work in 1972) and a section of the south wall with the integral structure of the lunette door.
