A	Antonello Medoro on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ La Chiesa Cattedrale di San Giustino, intitolata anche all’apostolo Tommaso e alla Vergine Assunta, sorge su un‘antica fabbrica di una Chiesa precedente al 1069. Nel 1335 Bartolomeo di Giacomo innalza i primi tre piani della torre campanaria che fu completata nel 1498 da Antonio da Lodi che costruisce la cella campanaria della torre ed il suo coronamento in forma di tempietto ottagonale. Tra la fine del ‘500 e i primi del ‘600 l'arcivescovo Matteo Saminiato restaura la Chiesa e fa eseguire nel 1599 il Fonte Battesimale in porfido di Verona. Nel 1703 un devastante terremoto fa crollare la cuspide del campanile. Tra il 1764 e il 1770 l'Arcivescovo Francesco Brancia trasforma completamente la Chiesa dandole il suo aspetto attuale.Nella cripta sono conservati lacerti di affreschi riferibili al sec. XIV e XV ed un’arca marmorea in cui sono custodite le reliquie di San Giustino, patrono di Chieti e primo Vescovo della città, fatto scolpire nel 1432 dal vescovo Marino del Tocco. The Cathedral Church of San Giustino, also named after the apostle Thomas and the Virgin of the Assumption, stands on an ancient building of a church prior to 1069. In 1335 Bartolomeo di Giacomo raises the first three floors of the bell tower which was completed in 1498 by Antonio da Lodi who built the bell cell of the tower and its crowning in the form of an octagonal temple. Between the end of the 1500s and the early 1600s, Archbishop Matteo Saminiato restores the church and had the Verona porphyry baptismal font made in 1599. In 1703 a devastating earthquake caused the spire of the bell tower to collapse. Between 1764 and 1770, Archbishop Francesco Brancia completely transformed the Church, giving it its current appearance. In the crypt, fragments of frescoes referable to the century are preserved. XIV and XV and a marble ark which houses the relics of San Giustino, patron saint of Chieti and first bishop of the city, sculpted in 1432 by the bishop Marino del Tocco.

P	Piotr Sucholeski on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Piękna katedra. Niestety obecnie (sierpień - wrzesień 2021) trwają prace remontowe - remont placu przed świątynią. Ograniczony jest dostęp do wnętrza katedry. Ale i tak warto obejrzeć, choćby tylko z zewnątrz. Beautiful cathedral. Unfortunately, renovation works are currently underway (August - September 2021) - renovation of the square in front of the temple. Access to the inside of the cathedral is restricted. But it's still worth seeing, if only from the outside.

È presente anche un'antica cripta che contiene le reliquie di San Giustino a cui si accede dalle navate laterali. Imposing cathedral in the center of Chieti dedicated to San Giustino. The interior consists of three naves. The presbytery is raised. There is also an ancient crypt that contains the relics of San Giustino which is accessed from the side aisles.

Di aspetto monumentale, di dimensioni notevoli, ma armonioso e di grande impatto visivo. Deliziosa la cripta sottostante, che rivela gli albori della costruzione, attorno all'800 (!). Consiglio la visita attenta. Great example of Abruzzo church architecture, rebuilt and remodeled over the centuries. Of monumental appearance, of considerable size, but harmonious and of great visual impact. The crypt below is delightful, revealing the beginnings of construction, around 800 (!). I recommend the careful visit.
s	susanne nilsson on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hel utrolig smuk gammel kirke. Dette er min mands hjemby, så vi er kommet i kirken, og udenfor kirken igennem mange år. Jeg har været til bryllup her også, så smukt. Der er mange trapper op til kirken, men der findes en elevator ude på venstre side, når man står foran trappen. Se evt også kælderen, hvor der er fri entre, og dejlig kølig om sommeren. Gå ikke glip af en tur rundt i denne smukke gamle kirke. Very incredibly old church. This is my husband's hometown, so we have been in the church, and outside the church for many years. I've been to weddings here too, so beautiful. There are many stairs up to the church, but there is an elevator out on the left side when standing in front of the stairs. See also the basement, where there is free entrance, and nice cool in the summer. Do not miss a walk around this beautiful old church.
