★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Interesting cathedral. When we went (Aug 2019) seemed like repairing roof, so green netting covered most the ceiling which was a shame. It feels a little tired but also that it’s still actively used which is nice. Has a very interesting astrophysical calendar on the floor in front of the altar. Approaching the cathedral from the front from the bottom of the stairs maximises the grandeur of it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What can I say, its a must see in Modica. Lots of steps to climb but you can also drive up near the top to avoid most of the climb. Lovely church with some interesting astrological symbols in the floor near the altar.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite the church. We were there towards nightfall and limited lighting obstructed some of the visibility of San Giorgio. The Cathedral is scenic from its exterior as well with flights of stairs cascading down to the street below. It was certainly worth the visit and you should make sure it is on your to do list if you are nearby.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stunning and a must see if visiting Ragusa Ibla. About 25 stairs to access although there is an elevator by side entrance. Beautiful inside. Must do is to walk up the hill to see the view of the bill tower and pinnacle. Outstanding and worth the hike

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very lovely cathedral full of charm and beauty. Free to enter and worth the 2 Euro charge to go up the additional 118 steps up to the bell tower and get a wonderful view of Modica.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely lovely baroque “wedding cake” architecture! The steps up lead to a fantastic historic, cultural (and religious) experience inside! With a beautiful view of the city of Modica even the walk to the church is amazing!
Oh, and watch for it in the Montalbano detective series! It’s featured in both the opening credits and it pops up in episodes all the time!
