★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Del castello di Viggiano, pare edificato nel XIV secolo, rimaneggiato sicuramente in seguito quindi raso al suolo dal terremoto del 1857, restano solo brandelli del muro perimetrale. Non c'è quasi nulla da vedere a parte cumuli di pietre. In compenso il panorama dalla cima è suggestivo. Il posto non è illuminato di notte anche se l'illuminazione pubblica del paese lo rischiara, il sentiero per entrarci è ripido e sconnesso, il posto è nel complesso cadente e tenuto male. Il panorama forse vale la fatica di inerpicarsi fino in cima in estate, di notte e col maltempo è un posto da evitare.
Of the castle of Viggiano, apparently built in the fourteenth century, certainly remodeled later and then razed to the ground by the 1857 earthquake, only shreds of the perimeter wall remain. There is hardly anything to see apart from piles of stones. On the other hand, the view from the top is impressive. The place is not illuminated at night even if the public lighting of the town illuminates it, the path to enter it is steep and bumpy, the place is overall dilapidated and poorly maintained. The view is perhaps worth the effort of climbing to the top in summer, at night and in bad weather it is a place to avoid.
