Beautiful sunny day, the most beautiful of the province Castle

scenographically placed on top of a hilly ridge.

Cited in a document of 1288, the castle belonged to the Scotti family from the second half of the fifteenth century to 1877. Imposing stone complex of the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, typologically referable to the structure of the castle-enclosure, not very common in the Piacenza area. It has an irregular planimetric development, almost trapezoidal. Composed of a central body and two towers, one of which is circular and one square. It was subjected to important restorations between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. The castle of Magnano is located above a hill between vineyards and clayey hills. Cited in 1288 in a deed of sale between the Mancassola family and that of the Della Volta Landi family, it belonged to the Scotti family from the second half of the fifteenth century to 1877, then passed to the MarazzaniCasali and Scribani Rossi families and to other families. The castrense complex has an irregular planimetric development, almost trapezoidal, probably linked to the morphology of the hill on which it stands. The imposing stone complex, belonging to the XIII and XIV century and typologically referable to the structure of the castle-fence, not very widespread in the Piacenza area, is composed of the central body and two towers. The towers, one circular to the south and one square to the west, delimit the south-west front characterized by the crowning of Guelph-style battlements. The crenellated curtains also find continuity on the north-east side, forming two different northern and eastern connections, respectively curved and at an acute angle. In the latter find the entrance and a second body that stands out for the plastering, missing from the rest of the complex in exposed stone just squared, with limited brick inserts due to additions implemented during restorations carried out between the eighteenth century and Nineteenth century.
