Peccato per la casera in rovina piena di materiali abbandonati. Vale comunque la pena. La valle un tempo era dotata di una casera(attualmente bruciata) libera a tutti per trovar rifugio d'emergenza. Si giunge in Palantina anche dal pian Canaie,oppure dal pian cavallo. A un paio d'ore di camminata dalla palantina si arriva al rifugio semenza oppure al rifugio Arneri. La vallata è bellissima ma purtroppo vedere la casera bruciata per dolo è uno scempio. Consigliabile il percorso abbastanza facile fino a forcella Palantina. Lì vicino c'è un belvedere che nelle giornate limpide permette di vedere le coste dell'Istria. La Casera Palantina è posta al bordo di un piccolo bacino glaciale, sul quale si raccolgono le acque stagionali del disgelo situato alle pendici occidentali del Gruppo del Monte Cavallo. Le acque del laghetto sono dissipate durante l'estate dalla calura e dal carsismo del substrato sassoso del suo fondo. La valle che contiene il bacino glaciale fa parte di un insieme ramificato di ghiaioni che si sono spartiti i detriti prodotti dall'erosione delle montagne della zona. Attorno alla Casera Palantina, che purtroppo è in stato di completo abbandono e strutturalmente pericolante, si possono scorgere varie tracce di più antichi insediamenti umani edificati nella sua conca. Ci sono tratti di ruderi di muretti a secco, fondamenta di altri edifici a forma di massicciate pietrose e perfino un anello di muretto a secco che fu presumibilmente adibito al contenimento del bestiame. È splendido, ci sono bellissime passeggiate che partono da lì, è un luogo ancora immerso nella natura e in più io vado a trovare Giulio, uno dei ragazzi morti nella prima guerra mondiale, e che ha una piccola lapide posta in questo luogo, per ricordarlo, e che io considero, ormai, un mio amico!
