Sicuramente si poteva ristrutturare meglio. Ora è abbastanza una torre anonima. Quasi non si nota. Surely it is the tower where once the leader Bartolomeo Colleoni lived and where, according to legend, his fabulous treasure was hidden. Certainly it could have been better renovated. It's quite an anonymous tower now. It is hardly noticeable.

F	Francesco PAVONCELLI on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Casa dove Bartolomeo Colleoni abitava (XV Sec.) con la famiglia (la moglie Tisbe, 7 figlie e la servitù). Un vero e proprio castello con suo fossato (risulta da una mappa coeva) del quale castello visconteo non è rimasto purtroppo molto. La stessa Torre aveva soprattutto una funzione militare e di ausilio alla cinta muraria eretta nel Trecento che ancora tre secoli dopo era il terminale del camminamento di ronda che la collegava alle altre 11 torri (tutte demolite a inizio Ottocento, in epoca austriaca). Da qui si dice che il Colleoni si dirigesse fuori borgo attraverso un passaggio segreto che permetteva di recarsi al Castello di Malpaga senza essere visti (un vero passaggio però non è mai stato scoperto). Si sa invece che nel 1475, alla sua morte, la tutrice di una delle figlie si calasse furtivamente dalla finestra per fuggire con oro e gioielli trafugati dalla casa di quello che, ai tempi, era forse uno dei più ricchi personaggi d'Italia e quindi d'Europa. Testimonianza di tale ricchezza si puó rintracciare facilmente a Città Alta di Bergamo (Cappella Colleoni, Basilica di S. Maria Maggiore, MIA) e a Venezia (Monumento equestre del Verrocchio in Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo). Peccato che della Casa sia rimasto solo il torrione e che degli interni non sia rimasto nulla. Del resto l’abitazione di rappresentanza stava al Castello di Malpaga, appena fatto costruire. House where Bartolomeo Colleoni lived (15th century) with his family (his wife Thisbe, 7 daughters and the servants). A real castle with its moat (shown on a contemporary map) of which Visconti castle unfortunately not much remains. The Tower itself had above all a military function and an aid to the walls erected in the fourteenth century which still three centuries later was the end of the patrol walkway that connected it to the other 11 towers (all demolished at the beginning of the nineteenth century, in the Austrian era). From here it is said that the Colleoni headed out of the village through a secret passage that allowed you to go to the Malpaga Castle without being seen (a real passage, however, has never been discovered). On the other hand, it is known that in 1475, on his death, the guardian of one of his daughters sneaked out of the window to escape with gold and jewels stolen from the house of what, at the time, was perhaps one of the richest characters in Italy and therefore of Europe. Evidence of this wealth can be easily traced in the Upper Town of Bergamo (Colleoni Chapel, Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, MIA) and in Venice (Equestrian Monument of Verrocchio in Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo). It is a pity that only the tower remains of the House and that nothing remains of the interior. After all, the representative house was in the Malpaga Castle, which had just been built.
