e	elvira di blasi on Google ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una chiesa speciale per i senesi,in una delle aree più antiche della città Secondo la tradizione qui fu incarcerato Ansano, che nel III secolo cristianizzo' Siena per poi essere immerso nella pece nel vicino Fosso di S.Ansano ,ed essere decapitato a Dofana. S.Ansano inoltre e' uno dei patroni della città . La zona in cui sorge la chiesa senese e' quella di Castelvecchio,il cuore della Siena romana e uno dei nuclei di epoca altomedivale ; Il culto e' documentato già da epoca longobarda. La chiesa attualmente visibile fu pero' costruita solo nel 400,commissionata dal vescovo .Fu riadattata una casa con una adiacente torre romanica,che ha a sua volta a una pianta irregolare in quanto si e' dovuta adattare anche alle mura di Castelvecchio. Nel 600 fu anche oratorio della Tartuca La chiesa e' quasi sempre chiusa ,con l'eccezione del 1 dicembre,festa patronale per Siena: la mattina viene celebrata qui una messa,mentre tutta la città viene ornata con le bandiere delle contrade,e nel pomeriggio la processione sfila dal Campo al Duomo. Con il 1 dicembre inoltre ha inizio l'anno contradaiolo.
