★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Un nome un perché. Classico buffet triestino con ottimo cibo e buon vino a prezzi modici. Da notare la gigantografia dell'imperatore sopra il banco bar.
A name a why. Classic Trieste buffet with great food and good wine at reasonable prices. Note the blow-up of the emperor above the bar counter.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Onesto buffet-trattoria con piatti della gastronomia tipica triestina. Dagli spuntini rapidi, a un calice di buon vino, al pranzo e la cena. Buona la cucina, porzioni generose, prezzi contenuti (un primo ca. 6-7 euro, pasto completo sui 20 o poco più). Servizio cordiale e alla mano. Ambiente tranquillo, semplice, da trattoria rustica. Frequentato da locali, lavoratori e impiegati della zona.
L’ “Impero” del nome richiama quello austrungarico di Francesco Giuseppe d’Austria, che troneggia in un simpatico dipinto agiografico dietro il bancone. Sulle pareti in legno del locale alcune foto della Trieste d’epoca.
Non un locale per cene di gala, ma sicuramente molto raccomandabile per la cucina genuina, economica e per la gentilezza e cordialità del servizio. Decisamente gradevoli i vini assaggiati.
Honest buffet-restaurant with typical Trieste dishes. From quick snacks, to a glass of good wine, to lunch and dinner. Good food, generous portions, low prices (a first course around 6-7 euros, a full meal around 20 or a little more). Friendly and easygoing service. Quiet, simple, rustic restaurant. Frequented by locals, workers and employees of the area.
The "Empire" of the name recalls the Austro-Hungarian one of Franz Joseph of Austria, who dominates in a nice hagiographic painting behind the counter. On the wooden walls of the room some photos of the Trieste of the time.
Not a place for gala dinners, but certainly very recommendable for the genuine, cheap cuisine and for the kindness and friendliness of the service. The wines tasted were very pleasant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Sehr orignelles Bistro. Die besten Pasta Pesto die ich je gegessen habe. Müsst ihr probieren. Sehr netter Inhaber und sein Team einfach toll. Spielen auch Rock, war einfach super. Ich kann das bistro nur für einen Besuch empfehlen. Freuen sich sehr über ein Lob und das ist auch angebracht. Kümmern sich sehr um ihre Gäste. Komme das nächste Mal wieder her....es war ein toller Abend
Very original bistro. The best pasta pesto I've ever tasted. You have to try it. Very nice owner and his team just great. Playing rock too, was just great. I can only recommend the bistro for a visit. Are very happy about praise and that is also appropriate. Take great care of their guests. Will be back next time ... it was a great evening

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Depends what you want. If you are hungry, do care about service or for some fancy cuisine, come in and have a pasta ragu or Amatriciana. Nothing special but they are open on Sundays when many others are not.
