★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Belvedere sommitale della Scala di Santa Maria del Monte, monumentalizzato da una scalinata a due rampe convergenti edificata nella piazzetta antistante la chiesa di Santa Maria del Monte. Pregevole la decorazione in maiolica policroma raffigurante la "Conduzione della Campana di Altavilla a Caltagirone" realizzato nel 1953 dal ceramista caltagironese Antonino Ragona. Eccellente il panorama che si gode, con un appunto anche se lapalissiano: la scala va ammirata dal basso, perchè ad essere decorate con maioliche sono soltanto le alzate dei gradini, che per loro natura non sono visibili dall'alto.
Top viewpoint of the Scala di Santa Maria del Monte, monumentalized by a staircase with two converging flights built in the square in front of the church of Santa Maria del Monte. The polychrome majolica decoration depicting the "Conduction of the Altavilla Bell in Caltagirone" made in 1953 by the Caltagirone ceramist Antonino Ragona is valuable. The panorama that can be enjoyed is excellent, with a note even if self-evident: the staircase must be admired from below, because only the risers of the steps are decorated with majolica, which by their nature are not visible from above.
