In epoca antica era conosciuto come Heirkte (Εἱρκτή).
Dagli Arabi era chiamato Bel Grin o Gebel Grin (cioè «monte vicino»)
Monte Pellegrino (Munti Piddirinu in Sicilian) is a promontory in the form of a real limestone mountain, 609 meters above sea level, which closes the Gulf of Palermo to the north and the Gulf of Mondello to the south.
In ancient times it was known as Heirkte (Εἱρκτή).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Proprio un belvedere !Se vuoi vedere qualcosa basta che sali qui sopra , lungo la vista trovi Mondello è più sopra nel bosco si arroste un porcello , vedi lo zen ed il centro commerciale tutto addobbato come se fosse Natale , bimbi schiamazzanti e tre litri di vino e trovi piú in lá ubriaco anche lo zio Nino , questa vista é spettacolare per chi la domenica vuol passeggiare c'è chi né approfitta della fitta boscaglia per passare del tempo con l' amata in vestaglia , nulla sotto ed un pacco di cappotti anche il più sfigato avrà figli a frotti . Viva Palermo e santa rosalia e tutti i like daritilli a mia !

If you want to see something just get up here, along the way you see Mondello is over in the woods a pig is roasted, see the Zen and the shopping center all decorated as if it were Christmas, cackling children and three liters of wine and you will find uncle Nino more in the drunk, this view is spectacular for those who want to walk on Sundays there is someone who does not take advantage of the thick bush to spend time with his beloved in a robe, nothing underneath and a pack of coats also more unlucky will have children to frotti.
