. . . Built between 1278 and 1363 by the will of the Ghibelline Ubertino Landi, it is in Lombard Gothic style with a terracotta facade. Work of the minor friars who wanted to expand the primitive church, was transformed, at the end of the 18th century, into a hospital and warehouse. After the exile of Napoleon, it was returned to the religious and in 1848 the annexation of Piacenza to the Kingdom of Piedmont was proclaimed. On the façade there are two buttresses, rose window, spire and spiers, as well as a median fifteenth-century portal and powerful rampant arches on the sides. On the right side was the cloister, of which only a portico has remained.

Piacenza basilica in the center, built in 1300 in full Romanesque style. Over the centuries it was also converted into a hospital out of necessity before being renamed San Napoleone by that megalomaniac…. Until the end of September 2021 it is possible to climb from the scaffolding for the renovation works for a breathtaking view. 107 steps but it's worth it: my Piacenza is fascinating from up there! Cost of the ticket € 4, green pass and document to be presented at the entrance. You go by appointment, I will show you the photo with the details. A slightly different "home" mid-August ?

Thousand year old church right in the center. Beautiful place of quiet and piece in a frenetic center.
