Always worth a visit. The uniqueness in the structure and the high wooden roofs and the various tombs of people we have all heard of or know are within these walls!! A must see and enjoy. Lines are easy of any and it’s only €8 euros.

Disability Note: the winding ramp at the right corner of the church (from facing it in the piazza) provides access. Free for disabled and caregiver. The only Disabled toilet available on the left side of the church entrance (when facing church from piazza) accessed from the cloisters right behind the security desk. It is small and tight, but manageable. See pics Staff was very apologetic that the Sacristy with Chimabue Crucifix was inaccessible-encouraged us to send email to complain to mgmt. As of this posting May 4th 2022, the Giotto frescoes β€œthe Stories of St. Francis” in the Bardi Chapel are completely covered by scaffolding and cannot be viewed. The adjacent chapel and several other works were visible (but with some difficulty for disabled guests). There are 5 or so steps leading into the chapel which must be overcome…somehow.

An absolute Must-See. Not only is the art world class, but so many famous Italians are honored here or have their tomb here. The church spectacular, but so is the cloister. Entrance is in the right side of the church and the exit is on the left side through the cloister. For my American friends: The CDC vaccination card is accepted everywhere instead of the European Green Pass

Beautiful basilica, but not as ornate as some. This basilica houses tombs of many famous people including Michael Angelo and Machiavelli. I believe Galileo is also there, or it is just a memorial of some sort..i couldn't really tell. Admission is 8 euros.

Beautiful cathedral. Lots of interesting art and sculpture. I especially appreciated the exhibit they have right now about Dante's Inferno! Totally worth the 8€ entrance free.
