Molto suggestiva come ambientazione, e posto in cui cercare magari un po' di tranquillità. Sono presenti alcuni affreschi e una cripta. Posto molto bello nel cuore della Brianza. Beautiful medieval church next to the baptistery. There is a beautiful park that reaches the Lambro river. Very suggestive as a setting, and a place to look for a bit of tranquility. There are some frescoes and a crypt. Very nice place in the heart of Brianza.

Scendendo da Veduggio e Briosco è possibile lasciare l'auto in un comodo parcheggio sulla destra poco dopo la chiesa, poco prima di imboccare il ponte sul Lambro. La chiesa è quasi sempre aperta e si può visitare agevolmente, anche la cripta che si trova sotto l'altare è aperta al pubblico. It is one of the most beautiful and significant Romanesque churches in Brianza. The baptistery that can be visited is noteworthy, a little further away from the church. Coming down from Veduggio and Briosco it is possible to leave the car in a convenient parking on the right shortly after the church, just before taking the bridge over the Lambro. The church is almost always open and can be easily visited, even the crypt under the altar is open to the public.

Vicino comodi parcheggi. Merita la visita, la sosta con Pic nic e la passeggiata ? Beautiful example of Romanesque in Brianza: Agliate hides a small treasure nestled among the small alleys of the village. A beautiful walk from the three-arched bridge to Basilicata and its nearby baptistery up to the banks of the Lambro: nature and history mix. Convenient parking nearby. Worth the visit, the picnic stop and the walk ?

Eretta fra il X e l'XI Secolo, è una testimonianza d'inestimabile valore della primissima epoca di questa corrente artistica, quanto Santa Maria Maggiore a Lomello, della quale ricorda anche la disposizione chiesa/battistero. Sia la prima sia il secondo sono caratterizzati dalla muratura in ciottoli di fiume disposti a spina di pesce, tecnica costruttiva tipica del romanico. La semplicità del complesso monumentale è disarmante, e in questo risiede parte del fascino irresistibile della basilica. Il presbiterio sopraelevato con cripta sottostante è un altro elemento comune di queste chiese edificate a cavallo dell'anno Mille: si ritrova a San Michele ad Oleggio e nella già citata Santa Maria Maggiore, ma gli esempi sarebbero moltissimi. Il soffitto a capriate lignee e il riutilizzo di colonne romane per separare le tre navate sono altri elementi che parlano la lingua del primissimo romanico, e che rimandano addirittura all'altomedievale architettura ottoniana. Bellissimi anche i resti di affreschi nell'abside maggiore e nel battistero, e superbo il campanile. It is the most important Romanesque monument in Brianza. Erected between the 10th and 11th centuries, it is a testimony of the inestimable value of the earliest period of this artistic movement, as much as Santa Maria Maggiore in Lomello, of which the church / baptistery arrangement also recalls. Both the first and the second are characterized by river pebbles masonry arranged in a herringbone pattern, a typical Romanesque construction technique. The simplicity of the monumental complex is disarming, and this is part of the irresistible charm of the basilica. The raised presbytery with underlying crypt is another common element of these churches built at the turn of the year 1000: it is found in San Michele ad Oleggio and in the aforementioned Santa Maria Maggiore, but there are many examples. The wooden trussed ceiling and the reuse of Roman columns to separate the three naves are other elements that speak the language of the very early Romanesque, and which even refer to the early medieval Ottonian architecture. The remains of frescoes in the main apse and in the baptistery are also beautiful, and the bell tower is superb.
