★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Corre l’anno 1319 quando Carlo d’Angiò concede un terreno per la costruzione di una cappella da dedicare alla Vergine dell’Annunciata nel desolato agro del Sarno. Anni dopo, quando attorno all’edificio ha già preso forma il nucleo abitato di Torre, accade un fatto che ha del miracoloso, quasi a esplicita conferma della santa iniziativa: al largo dello scoglio Rovigliano, nelle reti dei pescatori resta impigliata una cassa contenente un’immagine di Madonna con Bambino. È il 5 d’agosto, lo stesso giorno del celebre miracolo della neve a Roma, nell’anno 352, e della fondazione della chiesa di Santa Maria Maggiore, donde l’impulso di chiamare Madonna della Neve anche l’icona subito esposta alla venerazione nella chiesa dell’Annunziata. Ogni anno, nello stesso giorno, ha luogo la rievocazione a mare del rinvenimento, con la pittoresca ‘disputa fra i pescatori’, seguita dalla paraliturgia religiosa e dal giubilo pirotecnico durante il rientro a terra della sacra immagine.

The year is 1319 when Charles of Anjou grants land for the construction of a chapel to be dedicated to the Virgin of the Annunciation in the desolate countryside of the Sarno. Years later, when around the building has already taken shape the residential complex of Torre, a fact that happens is miraculous, almost explicit confirmation of the holy initiative Rovigliano off the cliff, gets caught in fishermen's nets a chest containing a image of Madonna and Child. It is the fifth of August, the same day of the famous miracle of snow in Rome, in the year 352, and the founding of the Santa Maria Maggiore church, whence the impulse to call Our Lady of the Snow also the icon immediately exposed to the veneration in the church of the Annunziata. Every year, on the same day, takes place in commemoration of the discovery sea, with the picturesque 'dispute between the fishermen', followed by religious paraliturgy fireworks and jubilation during re-entry on the ground of the sacred image.
