★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Away from the hustle and bustle of the enchantingly impressive Duomo di Siena, this beautiful building is just as remarkable and probably easier to enjoy as it's free and almost empty. It's definitely worth the 5-minute diversion away from the busy centre.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Quite a large basilica with plain architecture from the outside but not so on the inside. The Basilica is absolutely huge and has an impressive wooden roof. The Basilica is so huge that it feels empty when visiting. There are some very nice paintings and art works inside. Outside is a very nice square and a school with lots of students about.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Everyone says the Duomo in Florence is a must, but the Basilica in Sienna is far grander. If you have to pay to get in, do it. Your jaw will drop at what human beings have made without concrete.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A very nice church on the outskirts of Siena. It’s a very nice walk from the city center to here. The church is very famous for the stories of the Saint Francesco. The church is free to visit and if you like you can get a guided tour.
