β β β β β La Chiesa della Santissima Annunziata Maggiore Γ¨ una chiesa di Napoli, situata nel quartiere Pendino nei pressi di Forcella.
La chiesa fu realizzata nel XIII secolo dagli Angioini. Fu prima ricostruita ed ampliata nel 1500, per poi essere ristrutturata nel 1700 dal grande Luigi Vanvitelli, dopo che un incendio l'aveva gravemente danneggiata.
Durante la seconda guerra mondiale fu nuovamente danneggiata e si dovette sottoporta ad un lungo e complicato restauro.

 The Church of the Santissima Annunziata Maggiore is a church in Naples, located in the Pendino district near Forcella.
The church was built in the 13th century by the Angevins. It was first rebuilt and enlarged in 1500, only to be restored in 1700 by the great Luigi Vanvitelli, after a fire had seriously damaged it.
During the Second World War it was again damaged and had to undergo a long and complicated restoration.

β β β β β Uno dei monumenti che hanno attraversato una gran parte della storia della cittΓ , con il suo ospedale e la chiesa attivi dal Trecento ad oggi. La parte cinquecentesca superstite, dopo l'incendio settecentesco, Γ¨ un gioiello di artisti vari di alto livello, che tuttavia ha urgente bisogno di restauro: tarli, incuria e i segni del tempo mettono a rischio la sopravvivenza di magnifiche opere d'arte, soprattutto quelle lignee. Fanzago e Vanvitelli gli autori di importanti interventi architettonici in chiesa e nel famoso succorpo. La sagrestia e la cappella del tesoro sono gioielli che da soli giustificano la visita, anche se piΓΉ nota Γ¨ la ruota degli esposti, attiva per secoli e protagonista di vicende esistenziali drammatiche.
Tanto c'Γ¨ da raccontare e da scoprire in questo complesso, fra cui anche le leggende sulla Madonna della Scarpetta, molto venerata. Densa di aneddoti Γ¨ la visita di questo straordinario sito, dove fu allevato, fra i tanti, anche il grande Vincenzo Gemito
One of the monuments that have crossed a large part of the history of the city, with its hospital and church active from the fourteenth century to today. The surviving sixteenth-century part, after the eighteenth-century fire, is a jewel of various high-level artists, which, however, is in urgent need of restoration: woodworms, neglect and the signs of aging threaten the survival of magnificent works of art, especially those wooden. Fanzago and Vanvitelli the authors of important architectural interventions in the church and in the famous succorpo. The sacristy and the chapel of the treasure are jewels that alone justify the visit, even if the wheel of exhibits is more famous, active for centuries and protagonist of dramatic existential events.
There is so much to tell and discover in this complex, including the legends about the Madonna della Scarpetta, much venerated. Full of anecdotes is the visit to this extraordinary site, where the great Vincenzo Gemito was raised, among many others.
