★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Architecturally, the baptistery of Parma Cathedral marks a transition between the Romanesque and Gothic styles, and it is considered to be among the most important Medieval monuments in Europe. The most striking part of the Baptistery is its painted domed ceiling. Sixteen rays come out of the center of the ceiling, which each correspond to the arches.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Remarkable structure with amazing sculptures by Benedetto Antelami and his workshop (late 12th-early 13th cent.) as well as stunning frescoes in the octagonal interior space by some of the greatest artists of the 14th and 15th centuries.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A single magnificent jewel of mediaeval times. Twelfth century octagonal building of pink marble with a huge baptismal font at its centre, decorated from floor to dome ( five storeys up ) with wonderful mediaeval frescoes and sculptures. Very crowded but well organised - it is a wonder, with many styles and varied subject matter, though sadly some clearly some find little there to excite them.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I haven't accessed the Baptistery as it was 8€ per adults and I don't believe it's fair to pay to access for Christian places. However the structure is stunning from outside too. Pink marble looks shiny during sunny days and it complements the square with the beautiful Parma Cathedral

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Humiliating! They were very rude and didnt consider that a person using a walker had a disability. They made us pay for a personal care assitant! Embarrassing for a catholic institution! We decided to not even go inside. Questo non è rispetto!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not very interesting inside. Only stayed for 5-10 minutes... Outside however has gorgeous Romanesque reliefs on each door: DO NOT miss them!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pink marble on the exterior is stunning. A rather small church but beautiful. Need to buy tickets across the square at 12 euro including museum ticket. Architecturally, it marks a transition between Romanesque and Gothic styles, is considered one of the most important Medieval monuments in Europe.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ In last few years we have visited many Italian Churches, but the Battistero must rate as one of my favorite. The interior is like nothing else, magnificent interior and you can easily spend a couple of hours looking at the detail in the paintings. Pink marble on outdoor are beautiful. Highly recommend.
