B&B Maison Ortigia

AVOID Maison Ortigia. These guys should NOT be trusted with your credit card info I barely ever write reviews. But this is the worst experience I had with an accommodation in my life and I feel obligated to share, so you are aware of what you may be getting yourself into. I booked a room with the city/landmark view. After payment (with my debit card), I was provided an apartment with the view of inner courtyard of flats: ugly, old, dirty balconies and a wall. There was no city/landmark view at all and it looked nothing like the pictures that were posted at the time that I made the booking (this isn’t an isolated incident judging by some previous reviews). Nonetheless , the guy working there tried to convince me that this is the apartment I booked. After having to retrieve my booking and showing the guy (about a dozen times) that both “city view”/“landmark view” were listed in the description, we agreed that the easiest way to go would be for Maison Ortigia to refund me. I would leave and look for another accommodation. They gave me a full refund on the spot,.....only to charge my credit card an hour later through a third party entity (not called Maison Ortigia). Grounds: “no show”.... The next 6 days of my holiday I spent on the phone and emailing with Booking.com representatives, who were wonderful btw. Unfortunately, Booking.com are unable to enforce refunds without the consent of the property, as Maison Ortigia are the providers of the service and the responsibility for how they choose to advertise themselves on Booking.com is entirely theirs. And, believe me, there is no reasoning with Maison Ortigia.... They went back to claiming that they provided me the apartment that I booked and that they did no wrong. Yet, it remains a “mystery”: if Maison Ortigia provided me what I have booked in the first place and did no wrong - as they claim- then why did they first refund me on the spot and then used a different entity to charge my credit card an hour later?.. Mystery solved: because they are shady liars. Run

Friendly, clean and great location in ortigia I loved the view

Nice and clean room. Breakfast is good but missing fresh vegetable and fruits.

Apartment was very big but balcony looked onto nothing and some kitchen electrics didnt work very well. Breakfast was mostly sweet stuff.

There was a strong urine smell in the bathroom, body hairs in the shower, a big smashed insect on the wall next to the bed, bin and shower curtains were really old and disgusting... We exchanged with an employee from La Maison Ortigia on WhatsApp to find a quick solution as it was already past 8pm when we arrived (main excuse: we got a new maid this morning). We basically asked to get immediately another room. They offered to change the room in the morning and reimburse the first night. We refused, it was impossible to spend one more minute in it. We asked for a full reimbursement and we leave their b&b or to have a new room right away. The person refused to confirm us anything, my friend called her many times. After a lot of attempts she picked up but was apparently in a bar or crowded restaurant. We left the B&B, booked last minute something else. We came back the next morning and the other morning again. We talked to someone who absolutely refused to find a solution, refused to write a confirmation that we'll get reimbursed and refused to apologize. Excuses : the owner is in Palermo, the secretary is sick. It's been 10 days and we still haven't heard from them and obviously didn't get our money back.

B&B located in old building, the rooms are located on 2nd and 4th floor accessible by stairs or old, small lift (fits 2 people with suitcases). Rooms are spacious, bathroom could be cleaner and noise can be annoying. Simple but tasty breakfast. Good place to stay in Ortigia.

The accommodation was ok, good bedding but quite noisy place. The breakfast is really good, good quantity and good products. The parking is a disaster. We left our car one night and got it back with a scratch. The employees did not assume. Too bad.

The room was extremely clean with an amazing view to the sea and a cathedral, really comfortable and lovely. Exquisite breakfast and really fast wifi (I didn't have any inconvenient while working). Everyone was really polite and attentive.
