La Cripta posta a 7 metri di profondità, conserva delle traccie di affreschi paleocristiana, ed altre riconducibili a fasi successive. Interessante l'ipotesi di un ciclo di affreschi che potrebbero essere ricondotti al periodo iconoclasta, fatto raro in Calabria. All'interno anche l'Aghiasma, dal greco "la Fonte Sacra" e un lampadario antico donato dal Patriarcato ecumenico di Costantinopoli, che rappresenta "il collegamento tra il cielo è la terra". La narrazione dei 20 miracoli compiuti dal Santo proprio dall'interno della Cripta, vi cattureranno e arricchiranno notevolmente l'esperienza. This place will get you excited once you know the story. This is the oldest Christian monument in Calabria. The Crypt, 7 meters deep, preserves traces of early Christian frescoes, and others that can be traced back to later stages. The hypothesis of a cycle of frescoes that could be traced back to the iconoclastic period, made rare in Calabria, is interesting. Inside also the Aghiasma, from the Greek "the Sacred Source" and an ancient chandelier given by the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, which represents "the connection between the sky is the earth". The narration of the 20 miracles performed by the Saint from inside the Crypt, will capture and greatly enrich the experience.

Oltre al suddetto tempio, il complesso museale ospita i resti di una chiesa paleocristiana, di una medievale (costruita nel 1552) e la «cripta di San Fantino», luogo di culto cristiano più antico della Calabria che conservava un tempo le spoglie dell'omonimo santo. Ad oggi il titolo di chiesa di San Fantino, a Taureana, è stato trasferito al nuovo luogo di culto parrocchiale realizzato nel 1963 antistante la via del Mare. Luogo archeologico molto suggestivo ed interessante The temple of San Fantino is a nineteenth-century church of Palmi, located in the Largo Conte Pietro Antonio Spinelli in Taureana, currently used as a museum. In addition to the aforementioned temple, the museum complex houses the remains of an early Christian church, a medieval church (built in 1552) and the "crypt of San Fantino", the oldest Christian place of worship in Calabria that once kept the remains of the same name holy. Si accede dal parco archeologico. Sarebbe bello che il parco e la chiesa ricevessero più fondi per poter proseguire gli scavi. Very interesting place of worship built where a Roman nymphaeum already stood, as well as probable burial place of San Fantino, the first saint of Calabria. It is accessed from the archaeological park. It would be nice if the park and the church received more funds to be able to continue the excavations.

Entrate e lasciatevi incantare dai racconti delle guide. Sono dei volontari estremamente preparati e con tantissima voglia di valorizzare il territorio. Vi stupiranno con i racconti di San Fantino. Assolutamente da visitare! A little gem to visit! I visited the church after seeing the whole archaeological park which also includes the Saracen Saracen tower. Enter and let yourself be enchanted by the stories of the guides. They are extremely trained volunteers and with a great desire to enhance the territory. They will amaze you with the stories of San Fantino. A must visit!
