One of the most interesting sites in Italy, replete with history, only €2.50 to enter and often practically empty of people. This is the second-largest amphitheater in Italy (the Colosseum in Rome is larger), and there is some evidence that this is the FIRST and oldest of all known Roman amphitheaters. This is the site of the first Roman gladiator school and also the place where Spartacus began his famous β€œslave revolt” against the Roman Republic. The site also allows access to the β€œbasement” of the amphitheater, which is very interesting and expansive. 4 stars because the β€œmuseum” on site is two small rooms with a few artifacts on display, and the only information available is very limited and in Italian only.

Shameful, the garden around is nice but the site is available only in the morning because of lack of staff. Such a disappoing and annoying event.

Very underrated place to visit. Only 2€ per ticket, you get to visit a small museum and go into the arena. Not just around the arena, but underneath where all the slaves and animals would have been kept. Every time I've been here it's been almost completely empty. Very different from the busy colliseum in Rome.

We visited Capua during the preseason construction, and we're still able to get some photos, especially underneath the arena. If you haven't been, this is a strong recommendation from us, especially if you're a fan of Spartacus!

Wonderful place. Instead of spending a lot of money and fighting crowds at Rome's Colliseum, come here. Experience the 2nd largest amphitheatre of the Roman Empire for €2,50. Experience the overall history of the Capua and Caserta area. Amazing museums and places.

Great to see a monument in history still standing. Some of the marble was still in tact which was amazing and a testament to how well they're keeping up with the place.

It's unbelievable to hear that I can't enter and visit the place because there's lack of staff: the last tour was at 13:30, and this demonstrates how they are not smart at all since all the tourists would come later. Not even the shop is available to buy something, but the restaurant (IN THE SAME BUILDING) is open. Be ashamed of yourself.

The history behind these impressing remains is fascinating. Services are on site, so it seems are the restoration works. Small awesome gladiators' museum. The site is really worth an investment for maintenance.
