Alpe devero

Alpe Devero (1,640 m) is an enchanting and enchanted place. There are certainly more beautiful places but this has been in my heart for 22 years and will hardly come out. Those who come here are captured and never forget it. I've been on vacation for three months and I find it hard to leave. You park your car, you forget it, and you can go wherever you want. In Switzerland (and you have various possibilities), in Formazza, in Crampiolo, in San Domenico (Alpe Veglia) or stay on the plain of Devero (an ancient alpine lake now underground) making the rounds. With age you no longer have the possibility to do everything but the imagination flies and the mischievous squirrels, the loud talkative, the furtive foxes, the grumbling deer feed it with continuous contributions, new questions, furtive presences. Then if you add the suspicion of the bear, the threat of the wolf, the crawl of the viper here is a shiver runs through the back. In the locality of Crampiolo (1,750 m), a few steps from the church towards the dam on the right and a few meters above the inhabited area, the rare white Rhododendron blooms, which appears only in a few places in this park. Mushrooms are all over the place although porcini mushrooms grow conspicuously on the path to Goglio (1,100 m) and not at this altitude. Unforgettable Agàro, Èsigo and Cròveo but at lower altitudes. Who comes here for an escape (hit and run) who for a trip who for a meal who for a couple of days but nobody forgets it. The view from Basto (B&B) is excellent, the view from Sangiatto with its lakes or from the simpler Forcoletta is wonderful. Enchanting the Alpe Misanco with the sound hole of wind moans for the Buscagna where the wild ones run free. Challenging and sometimes dangerous (especially during thunderstorms, it seems to attract lightning) La Rossa. The Val Deserta is lunar and ghostly. But is there a place where the view is not beautiful? And wherever your eye spaces it tempts you to other panoramas other views further north, further east, further on. The eye invites you where the legs no longer push. And the starry sky? Just seeing Jupiter and Saturn appear, or Mars remaining in the sky for a long time compensates for the bitter cold even on summer nights. Oh yeah! If you want to see stars or comets the sky must be clear and the clear sky reminds us of the abysmal chill of deep space.
