'A Alera Room & Breakfast

Posto fantastico su tutto, la nostra stanza con una vista bellissima, ottime colazioni, torte fatte in casa da Daniela.

Camere pulite e spaziose, colazione a buffet ricca e variegata (soprattutto le torte e le marmellate di Giuliana), personale gentilissimo e super disponibile, vista mozzafiato su Stromboli e Panarea (consigliato svegliarsi presto e godersi l'alba dalla terrazza), eccezionale!

While the trip started on a positive note, ultimately I can not endorse this location due to the horrific service we experienced towards the end of our stay. The front desk graciously arranged our cab pick up for arrival, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the B&B is very centrally located. We inquired about a late check out and was told this is not possible due to full bookings. We thought no problem, can you hold our bags for us until our ferry departs? This proved to be a challenge. They have no system for doing so and offered to leave them unlocked and in the open, unattended, with no one manning reception. Ultimately, we agreed after they told us they couldn’t do much else for us and couldn’t guarantee they’d be back to let us in if it were locked because they don’t offer check in consistently throughout the day. I was told we needed to check out immediately in a reprimanding tone and once I explained that we paid in full through our booking service, she told me I couldn’t have a receipt as I didn’t book through her. She asked about room charges and I said only the towels we rented (you must rent beach towels here), she dismissed me and didn’t charge for it. Later, upon retrieving our bags her sister yelled at us for “not paying for the towels.” I politely informed her that we did specifically ask and were told we had covered our check, but that of course we’d be happy to pay. She was like “well she probably just can’t understand you. You have to pay,” with no hospitality or apology. We paid and proceeded to depart, noticing on our exit two vacant rooms that no one had occupied for literally the entire day, including our original room. While the accommodations themselves were fine, disrespectful service in a hospitality industry is unacceptable. We will return to the beautiful island of Salina, but never to A Alera. We will stay at Hotel Signum instead where they value guests and would recommend the same for anyone heading to this lovely island!

This is just about everything you could ask for in a B&B. The owners are very nice and speak great English. The rooms are very clean and modern. The views are exquisite either from your room or on the veranda. If Malfa is your preferred hub, the location is ideal - a few minutes uphill into town, a few minutes downhill to the beach and port. We had a wonderful time in the Aeolians and A Alera really set us up perfectly.

Beautiful hotel, inside and out. Tasty breakfast every morning, and the staff is super friendly and speaks great English. We hit some unexpected issues with our travel plans and Paola and Sofia made several calls for us to help get things straightened out. Highly recommend!

This is our second time staying here and once again we loved it! The view is spectacular and the breakfast was incredible. Also the staff/manager were so friendly and helpful.
