Very informal airspace museum. The location is a big part of its appeal. A personal wish is more ww1 and ww2 era planes.

If I could give more stars, I would! What looks from the outside like a graveyard for old planes and hangars, is fully made with love from the inside. In every hangar you can discover different parts of the history of flight, from the early beginnings until space age. They feature a lot of real aircraft and helicopters, some of them you can walk in and e.g. sit in the seat of the pope on the plane he used for his official travels. They also have a kids area for the little ones, a flight simulator - if you want to try how hard or easy it is to land a plane, a nice restaurant and some historic cars and trains as well. You can reach it with just a 10 minutes walk from terminal 1 at Milan Malpensa airport.

Very nice museum that is only 5-10 minutes away from the MXP Airport. Awesome (and quite large) collection of fixed-wing and rotor-wing aircraft, as well as a great collection of sports cars. It would be very easy to visits this museum during a long layover at MXP. Most of the information throughout the museum is in English in addition to Itslian which is a nice plus for English speakers. Great bargain also as admission is only $11 euros.

This huge and extremely interesting museum aside of Malpensa airport, mostly dedicated to the aviation history, should be a MUST-DO when being around Milan or the northern lakes. Realized in the ancient building of the Caproni industries, several airplanes as well as helicopters and other flying materials are well conserved and/or restored. It hosts also a padillon dedicated to Flaminio Bertoni, italian artists that designed the most iconic and legendary Citroen cars (DS, 2CV, Ami, Dyane etc.) as well as the museum of general transports with lots of trains, buses and trucks.

One of the best flight museums in Italy with more than 116 aircrafts among airplanes and helicopters. Recreation area for young kids, a restaurant and outside playground area. It is ideal to spend a full day even if you are not reall passionate of flight. Staff is very professional and enthusiastic about their job and most of them are former pilots with lot of experience and full of stories and curiosity about flight to tell to the public. There is a flight simulator area included in the ticket and moreover it is possible to reserve and pay in advance a lesson of 45 minutes with an instructor on a professional airbus flight simulator. There is also a drone area but unfortunately was not open when I visited. Every Sunday they run an airplane jet engine in the outer space to let the oublic experience the power and the noise made by a jet engine. There is a restaurant for a quick bite. The only negative point is the really poor choice for veg. The price of the ticket is about 12 euros an adult and discount for young and elderly ppl. It is more than worth.

How to walk from the main terminal to the museum: from the "Departures/Partenze" (upstairs) go to the right (NORTH) and at the end of the bridge turn right. At the gate telephone at the published number and somebody will come and open it. Do not walk around the museum perimeter because of construction works: it could become extremely complicated or even dangerous.

I saw many aviation museums, but I can say that Volandia is among the best ones. You can find it right next to Malpensa int. airport in Milan. In museum you can see a huge number of scale models, large number of real military and some civil aircrafts (they are in outdoor display too), you can even see some old and new cars. They also have flight simulators, but during our visit weren't operating!? Inspite that I am big fan of aviation I would like to point out the space section in this museum. Personally, it was my favourite! This is really a must see because of so many scale models, space suits, solar system moduls, there are even pieces of real meteorites on display. They've really done a great job! For children are outside and big indoor playground, you won't be thirsty or hungry either, because they took care of that too! I highly recommend it!??

Short walk from Malpensa. Just follow the sign to the museum from the terminal. Walk across the white bridge to the back of the museum. You can either walk along the fence to the front entrance, or call the number on the back gate and ask the staff to bring you in. Great exhibition of aircrafts, helicopters and cars. Model aircraft collections were abundant. Must visit for airplane lovers!
