La basilica è dedicata a uno dei patroni della città. Come la chiesa di San Michele Arcangelo, anche questo edificio sorge sui resti di una cappelletta longobarda di circa otto metri di larghezza. Il campanile a base quadrata, in muratura a vista, risale a un periodo compreso tra il 1400 e il 1418 ed è la parte più antica dell'edificio attuale.
The Basilica of San Giovanni Battista is located in the center of the city of Busto Arsizio. 15 minutes from the state station and 10 minutes from the north Busto station. The basilica is dedicated to one of the patrons of the city. As the church of San Michele Arcangelo, this building stands on the ruins of a Lombard chapel of about eight meters wide.
