It's a nice hotel with an amazing breakfast... Our room was small though and when asked to change to a bigger one, they said no unless we pay 25 euro per person each night, which was alot considering the hotel wasn't full. The location was great... 10 minutes walk to city center and 20 mins walk to the beach and promenade.

We stayed here for a holiday in Riva. Half board is amazing 5 course dinner which has an amazing vegetarian selection. The staff are all helpful and friendly. The food quality is very high, location is great 10 mins from a supermarket and 15 mins from town / grockle shops / the lake front. Clean throughout. Just cannot fault it.

It is our first day in this hotel and we are very disappointed. The dinner was miserable: the salad was old and dry, the pasta had no taste at all, the potatoes were burned and the cheese was also old and swetting because it was the whole evening uncooled in the restaurant room. Furthermore it is not possible to order a glass of wine, just a bottle is possible and costs around 25-50€. They want to behave like high class but it is not middle class at all. The room is okay but I was told that they are not able to switch on the air ventilation because it is still "April" so the air quality in the room was not good and it was too hot so opening the window was not enough. After a few minutes a bat flew into the room flying crazy around and when telling this the hotel personal they reacted with a very angry face. Also, we were able to hear the neighbours doing everything. First and also last time here!

This was a lovely hotel that was extremely clean. The staff were really friendly and professional and went out of their way to make our stay amazing. The hotel is a little oasis in Riva and helped us have an amazing holiday. It is ideally located for both the old and new town.

Sorry, but this hotel has gone right downhill. The value for money has gone right down, and it seems that a number of cutbacks are just to fund the ever-present owner's multiple luxury cars and family dinners. Our room was clean, refurbished, and a good enough size. The cleaners did an excellent job and are one of the only reasons that the score for the hotel isn't lower. The beds were extremely hard and I could feel small lengths of plastic under my sheets night after night. The pillows were also extremely hard, and I didn't get a full night's sleep at any point during my holiday. Shower cubicle was very small but the shower was powerful and the shower supplies were replaced daily. The spa and pool were nice but good luck getting a spot unless you're there early doors. There used to be an outside bar, but it seems like that's gone the distance. One major problem with the spa (sauna etc), however, comes back to the cutbacks: the facilities are by request during the afternoon. That means that if you fancy a sauna you can't just pop in, you've got to first know exactly when you want your sauna, then wait in line at reception to ask for it, then you're almost bound by that. It takes away any spontaneity which is why people go on holiday. The only reason I can see to do this is to avoid wasted energy. But I'm a paying customer, and I've paid for the services, I don't want to have to ask for it!! I was absolutely livid the first time I realised the sauna and steam room were off and had to be requested (I'd not been told). Really, it's funding the owner's indulgences. The food was the reason we returned to this hotel after 9 years. Back in those days it was really excellent, and there were very high quality dishes on the daily menu. This time round, there was one fewer course, and the food was absolutely shocking! There was no imagination to the food, and some of it was appallingly badly cooked. Octopus soup was on the menu 3 times over our 7 night holiday (I had it the first time to try it and it was awful), and turkey emincee (turkey bites!) was on 4 times. Every night there was repetition. I think Scorpion fish was on 3 times as well. The drinks are unbelievably overpriced at around 30 - 50 Euros a bottle. Also the water at dinner is 3.50 euros a bottle but the exact same bottle is only 2.50 from the minibar! It's just a cash cow for the owner, who has no shame on reprimanding his staff constantly during breakfast and dinner service (although to be fair it sounded like this was to keep presentation standards up, such as removing dirty bowls etc). In the dining room there were a great number of flies which would land in our food and on our tableware throughout service, and in the last night when my partner ordered cheese, we had a visitor on our breadstick (see photo). When I discreetly told the maitre d' he denied it and told me the food is made in house so it couldn't have a bug on it... He then went off in a huff and didn't really speak to us for the rest of the service. (Also, when the cheese was ordered, I got ice cream. Mine came out and the waiter told the maitre d' to serve our cheese so we could eat together. In fact, he served 3 others (slowly) before he came to us, at which point my ice cream had melted and we were both fed up). This is the first year that the hotel has been booked in conjunction with TUI, and I made it very clear how I felt to the TUI representative. I hope this hotel goes back to basics, stops ripping off customers, and improves their value for money. We won't be returning... EDIT: to respond to the owner: 1) nowhere have I ever, ever accused anyone of theft, I suggest you check your translation; 2) Christopher? 3) if you check my reviews, you will see that 19.7% have been 5*, 36.4% are 4*, 9.1% are 3*, 15.2% 2*, and 19.7% have been 1*, so I think you'd agree that this is quite a spread, skewed towards the positive experiences if anything (over 55% 4/5 star reviews). I understand your frustrations, but I'm trying to offer advice on what made your hotel so great 9 years ago that we returned!

We came to Riva on the 15th of June for a week. The hotel and all of the staff were just amazing, particularly the restaurant and bar staff. The food was totally delicious and the rooms and pool were always clean. The hotel is in a fantastic location, down a little side street which is lovely and quiet. It is a boutique hotel so not a chain and not too big which I believe is why it is of such a high standard. It is only a 10 minute walk into the old town which is beautiful and right on the lake. It has dozens of restaurants and lovely shops. We didn’t want to leave, we will definitely be back next year.

I was there only for a massage, best massage ever !!! It makes me want to stay at their hotel next time. Everything was so perfect. The stagg was so professional and friendly. The masseuse was really great at her job, she put so much effort in it and she made me so damn relaxed. Thank you so much and I really hope I will be back !!

First time ever I regretted booking a hotel. The hotel is absolutely not worth a trip. It may meet the requirements of a 4 star hotel on paper. But as soon as you get there, you will be disappointed. Apart from the run-down impression, the hotel staff does not provide a good atmosphere. It is absolutely unrepentant, rude and even insulting in case of deficiencies. It was a lesson to me, I am no longer fooled by online pictures.
