★ ★ ★ ★ ★ While the hotel itself is okay, their policies remind me more of Ryanair and in over 1000 hotel nights lifetime, I have not once experienced such blatant attempts of nickel and diming.
Pros:
- Location. Stunning views and a beautiful building
- very professional and polite restaurant staff
Neutral:
- rooms are fairly basic (e.g. absolutely tiny TV) but clean and in decent shape
- bathrooms are in dire need of a remodeling but clean
Cons:
- beds must be the hardest I've experienced outside of Asia, extremely uncomfortable, even painful
- AC in my room needed maintenance (squeaky fans)
- 10am checkout is far from industry standard, especially in a tourist oriented hotel. The info sheet in the room with the various late check-out prices (starting at 30€...) makes it pretty obvious what is going on here.
- trying to charge guests atrocious amounts of money to use the fairly benign pool after check-out (10€ fee, 5€ for towels and a staggering 20€ for a simple deck chair) is just outright unacceptable for a hotel in that category. A small fee, though atypical, would be one thing but this is just short of genuine rip-off.
Neither of the cons should ever happen in a hotel that charges 150€ a night even by accident, let alone deliberately. One star review, bonus star for the restaurant staff.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our Wedding at Villa Cariola:
This year, end of May, we celebrated our Wedding at Villa Cariola. We had around 120 guests (around 80 of them stayed directly in the Villa) and booked the whole hotel for two days. This was the requirement to celebrated at the wedding night longer than midnight. On our first night, all guests arrived and we had a little get together on the terrace. Villa Cariola made little Pizza slices for everybody and we had wine, aperol spritz and beer. On the wedding day, our ceremony took place behind the main building with the beautiful stairway. We brought our own speaker and music. After the ceremony we wend over to the front placa and had a great aperitifo with different styles of fingerfood, cafe and aperol spritz. We brought a DJ who made the music. In the evening we had an awesome four course menu. Although we had so many guests, all dishes came together with the perfect temperature. The food and the drinks was great as was the service. The waiters always came by and asked if we want some more and also offered drinks. Quality of food and all dishes was great! After the dinner, we played some games and used Villa Cariola's IT infrastructure (beamer, sound). Then started our awesome party, first in the Notes room (the room above the big center place). When it got late, we moved to the big dinning room and kept on partying there. Since we booked the whole place, we could party until 2:30. At night, we the Villa also served great long drinks, besides the awesome wine.
Looking back, half a year after our weeding, we have to say, the decision to celebrate at Villa Cariola was a great one. We had an awesome time, the service was incredible, to food very good and we also were very lucky with the weather. Before the wedding we were at the Villa twice and also had our test-dinner then....During the whole planning process, we got supported by Enrica, the wedding planer at Villa Cariola. She was very competent and supportive, named us fotographers and flourist, with which we were very happy. Also she answered all our questions during the planning process and was a big help on the wedding weekend. Summing up, our wedding weekend was just perfect and we only can recommend to everybody getting married in Villa Cariola!! Thanks a lot!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Villa Cariola is an iconic charming 18th century Venetian Villa overloking the gentle hills and green bucolic panorama of the “Veronese” countryside, about 3km (1.9mi) far from the stunning “borgo” of Caprino Veronese and its renowned 1632 Villa Carlotti. 6km far from Villa Cariola you can immerse yourself in the greenery of the fields where the Battle of Rivoli (14–15 January 1797) took place, key victory in the Napoleon’s French campaign in Italy against Austria. Napoleon Bonaparte's 23,000 Frenchmen defeated there an attack of 28,000 Austrians under General of the Artillery Jozsef Alvinczi and consolidated French presence in Northern Italy. Villa Cariola is today a 36 elegant rooms 4-star Hotel, each appointed with antique beams, fine wooden floors and precious linens, as well as it is a Weddings venue and “Relais” with an outdoor Swimming pool and a panoramic rooftop terrace where to enjoy a fresh summer aperitivo! I went to the swimming pool on a hot summer Sunday and we booked the outdoor upscale seats and parasol: 19€ per person all day. The customer service was wonderful: Parking included, elegant white dressed waiters serving you directly at your seats, wide selection of food and beverages. Notice an extreme care in hygiene with personnel always wearing masks to avoid COVID-19 spread. We took a delicious traditional “piadina con prosciutto cotto e fontina” (=warm flatbread with ham and cheese; 5€) a Coke Zero (3€) and a cappuccino (2.50€). Tip: Enjoy the stylish package bottle of Franciacorta Contadi Castaldi wine + 5 Oysters and Scampi (50€).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The villa is really a beautiful venue. I can see why people chose it as a wedding venue!
- We arrived close to midnight and the night guardian was super helpful and efficient.
- Our room was a bit old school but comfortable and cute. In the style of a room in an old villa would be. Very quiet, we did not hear a thing during our stay - which is always a massive plus.
- Breakfast was nice, choice wasn't exceptional but there was plenty and it was of good quality (rather than a large buffet of mediocre stuff).
- The groups are beautiful, trees, pool, giant staircases I'm stone. Surrounded in parts by wineries. Great view in the valley below, when the sun sets, it's a great sight. I guess the only thing missing is the lack of view of the lake, but I can't say we missed it much.
- They lower their fees to fill rooms a day before, so if you are passing by and need a last minute room you could get one normally sold 200+ for just 90.
- Overall a great location and charming hotel. I would definitively recomand it.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If romance and the splendor of nature is what you're searching for then this is the place. 1st of all, you're surrounded by the Northern Alps of Italy which just happens to be in the heart of wine country. 2nd, the Villa is grand, picturesque with rooms that fulfill the fantasy of Old World Mediterranean elegance. 3rd, the surrounding restaurants in Platano and Caprino Veronese are charming, inviting and a must to visit. All said, to wake-up to the view of rolling hills, vineyards and the Alps is a daily rejuvenation of the lmind, body & soul.
