Merito del Marchese Pottino, che non cedendo alla tentazione ha mantenuto vivo un giardino di circa 7000 mq. pertinenza della villa, oggi, nel cuore della città. La descrizione della villa e la visita sono a cura di alcuni dei proprietari, e questo aggiunge un un po' di pathos e fa ancor di più immaginare cosa doveva essere la vita dei proprietari presso la villa. Non è stata semplicemente una tra le tante tappe alla scoperta della nostra città: la proprietaria, la signora Geraldina Piazza, ci ha personalmente guidato lungo la storia della sua famiglia, regalandoci un racconto che non è la mera descrizione delle mura della villa, ma è intriso del significato che a queste è stato dato da tante generazioni, senza mai risultare stucchevole o noiosa. Le memorie che abbiamo ascoltato, intrecciate alle vicende della Palermo del Novecento, hanno restituito vita alle stanze che lei, insieme ai suoi cugini, hanno ricostruito con amore e credendo in un progetto per veri sognatori: mantenere accesa la fiaccola della cultura. Grazie per questa visita speciale! We visited this pearl of Palermo thanks to the Vie dei Tesori. It was not simply one of the many stops to discover our city: the owner, Mrs. Geraldina Piazza, personally guided us through the history of her family, giving us a story that is not a mere description of the walls of the villa, but is imbued with the meaning that has been given to these for many generations, without ever being cloying or boring. The memories we listened to, intertwined with the events of twentieth-century Palermo, brought back to life the rooms that she, together with her cousins, rebuilt with love and believing in a project for true dreamers: to keep the torch of culture alight.
