Trattoria Nonna Tetti

I know this is supposed to be a good restaurant but we had a terrible experience. The service was horrendous and not attentive at all. We left before we even ordered any food. Despite a reservation, we were told to walks upstairs because apparently everything was fully booked downstairs. There were no lights on but terribly loud music (Tomorrowland style). After finally Someone came upstairs to serve us and turn on the lights, we asked to be seated downstairs to not be so isolated whenever a table becomes available but the service was unfriendly and not accommodating and since we didn’t feel welcomed or comfortable we left straight away. The food may be good but I wouldn’t come back.

After calling several times during a couple of days nobody answer the phone. We try to walk in one night and the restaurant atmosphere was quite aggressive, everyone was looking at us commenting and after asking the waiter for a table for two, he said in a really rude way no reservation out! They look at us as we were crazy. Not recommended!

We went here for some good authentic local food in the second week of August. First some information on the professional/ethical code: we were greeted in the small entrance and placed close to another big table. The young 3 waiters weren't wearing a mask (that's the law, not an opinion) and no vaccine certification was asked before we were seated. In the meantime an older couple was having a fight over the non existent security measures of the place. 5 minutes after they left claiming to go to the closest police station for a formal complaint the waiters put the masks on their faces. While some younger customers started a very unpleasant conversation mocking the lady about her concerns nobody did anything. That was very very unpleasant and surreal. About the food: I wanted to have some cold cuts but when asked I was told they weren't local, "they are industrial" said the waiter. Which in a Trattoria doesn't really make sense. Ok, then, I've picked the appetizers. It came in 5-6 small plates, most were vegetables (grilled sweet peppers on 4 small plates cutted in different ways, same taste). I wasn't impressed. My friend got the mixed fried appetizers and the tipical meat rolls "bombette". Not impressed either. When I told the waiter that one of my appetizers (the 4th plate of grilled sweet pepper..) was inedible because of the very salty taste, his reply was "yes, this is this kind of sweet pepper". No buddy, there's no such thing in the regional cuisine as "over salty sweet pepper". Every single plate on the table was chipped. Now, we usually go to trattoria to taste simple authentic honest food at reasonable prices. Not tasteless, slammed on half plates bunch of badly cooked fodder. I was the one who recommended this place to my friend, go figure how bad I felt about the whole experience. Don't even know it's still open, we left before the police (hopefully) arrived.

We enjoyed our pasta and seafood dishes. The service was very good, but it was not very busy on a cold winter night. The B & B where we stayed had recommended the restaurant.

Food is very good, and I can tell since I am from Lecce. It is really like the food of my grandma. We arrived without reservation and they found a table for us. Service could be improved as there were only 2 waiters for both floors. All in all a good experience

I really came here because lots of people recommended. It does not really worth! Nothing special and i don’t understand why this place is so overrated. We ordered the fist appetizer in the menu, 5 small local plates nothing extraordinary. Then we ordered meat which is said to be Argentinean but worst quality with a lot of fat inside. The pasta i ordered was a disaster (second picture), so salty and heavy that i could not get more than 2 spoons. Although they realized i could not eat it and i told them it is too heavy and impossible to eat they did nothing. We got house wine, that was good but we are in italy right, can it be bad? Go eat pizza in a small restaurant and you will pray. Stay away from here, you will save time and thank me!

Reading past reviews, I guess your experience greatly depends on who is in charge of service when you go. The restaurant had been highly recommended by a friend and indeed the food was good - not fantastic, but tasty, rustic, authentic, in good quantity. Fave e cicorie is particularly good, as well as the full burrata antipasto. However the experience was impaired by the level of service (or lack thereof)... starting from waiting until 11pm to get seated (we had a reservation at 10:30) without a single explanation or apology. Then arrived order errors (wrong drink, forgotten dish), wine served in water glasses, no forks, knives or spoons... Personnel did not seem to care much, never apologized, and did not wear masks. Good food is not an excuse for bad service.

Traditional Trattoria in old Lecce town. Food is simple and excellent. The place is not for a romantic dinner. The decoration is a bit old. I had a mixed grill of meat with vegetables. It was delicious. I highly recommend for a lunch in Lecce. Prices are cheap. Waiters are friendly. ??❤
