Purtroppo il tratto delle originarie mura della cinta medievale, che recingono l'angolo più esposto alla valle del quartiere di Civitanova, sono sempre aggredite dalla vegetazione, il ché può solo danneggiarle.
Lo sperone murario a ovest resta comunque di grande fascino e con esso, tutto il complesso, quantunque in buona parte ripristinato, della Piazza d' armi, delle Torri e del fossato.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Una delle "cartoline" di Lanciano, con il complesso delle mura civiche, di Largo dell'Appello e del meraviglioso belvedere che abbraccia in un unico sguardo la Maiella e il Gran Sasso.
Oggetto in passato di variazioni anche sostanziali, restauri e ricostruzioni, rappresentano ancora un valido esempio delle fortificazioni di cui era munita la città a partire dal secolo XI.
Oggi all'interno si svolgono rappresentazioni musicali, teatrali e proiezioni cinematografiche: lo scenario è senz'altro notevole, l'acustica - condizionata anche dal forte vento sempre presente - spesso improponibile; decisamente più idonea alle rappresentazioni storiche.
One of the "postcards" of Lanciano, with the complex of civic walls, Largo dell'Appello and the marvelous belvedere that embraces the Maiella and Gran Sasso in a single glance.
Subject in the past of even substantial changes, restorations and reconstructions, they still represent a valid example of the fortifications that the city was equipped with starting from the 11th century.
Today, musical and theatrical performances and film projections take place inside: the scenery is undoubtedly remarkable, the acoustics - also conditioned by the strong wind that is always present - often impossible; definitely more suitable for historical representations.
