★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Piccola Torre caratteristica in mezzo alla campagna locale. Non aperta ed osservabile solo dall'esterno. Da lì parte il sentiero per arrivare a piedi al Santuario della Madonna di Vergadoro. Attenzione alle vipere lungo il sentiero.
Small characteristic tower in the middle of the local countryside. Not open and observable only from the outside. From there the path starts to reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Vergadoro on foot. Beware of the vipers along the path.

La torre era custodita da un torriere o caporale, un milite spagnolo di nomina regia, e da due servienti, nominati dall’università sul cui territorio era edificata la torre. Essi avevano il compito di vigilare e proteggere la navigazione e la marina e di segnalare ogni presenza sospetta.
Tower of the viceroyal defense system of Calabria, built to protect navigation and the navy already during the viceroyalty of the Duke of Alcalà (1559-1571). The tower was guarded by a torriere or corporal, a Spanish soldier of royal appointment, and by two servants, appointed by the university on whose territory the tower was built. They had the task of supervising and protecting navigation and marine and to report any suspected case.
