..sporchissima e dire niente...gente incivile che fumava e lasciava le cicche nella sabbia o mangiavano e facevano altrettanto... dovrebbero anche esserci più controlli per rispettare le distanze....mettere dei cartelli per poi non controllare non serve a niente

.. very dirty and say nothing ... uncivilized people who smoked and left their butts in the sand or ate and did the same ... there should also be more controls to respect the distances .... putting up signs and then not checking is not useful nothing

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Torre costiera fortificata eretta, come le altre disseminate lungo le coste salentine, in seguito alle ordinanze del Regno di Napoli emanate tra il 1532 e il 1563 dai viceré don Pietro di Toledo e don Pedro Afan de Ribera, per proteggere il territorio dagli attacchi dei pirati saraceni.
È situata sull'altopiano in cui si estende il Bosco Caggione nella marina di Pulsano e domina la baia di Lido Silvana.
Costruita nel 1568 con conci di carparo, ha la tipica struttura troncopiramidale con guardiola sulla terrazza. Una scala in muratura porta all'unico ambiente interno quadrangolare, illuminato da due finestre contrapposte.
Affidata alla tutela della Soprintendenza per i beni archeologici della Puglia per la presenza nell'area di una necropoli, di una tomba a grotticella e di un abitato protourbano dell'età del bronzo, da almeno cinquanta anni non ha ricevuto interventi di manutenzione. Presenta pertanto numerosi segni di degrado tali da rendere impegnativo un possibile recupero della torre.
Sono ormai un lontano ricordo i panorami della baia e della costa che potevano essere osservati dalla terrazza.
Fortified coastal tower erected, like the others scattered along the Salento coasts, following the ordinances of the Kingdom of Naples issued between 1532 and 1563 by the viceroys Don Pietro di Toledo and Don Pedro Afan de Ribera, to protect the territory from pirate attacks Saracens.
It is located on the plateau where the Bosco Caggione extends in the Pulsano marina and dominates the bay of Lido Silvana.
Built in 1568 with carparo ashlars, it has the typical truncated pyramid structure with a guardhouse on the terrace. A masonry staircase leads to the only quadrangular internal environment, illuminated by two opposing windows.
Entrusted to the protection of the Superintendence for the archaeological heritage of Puglia due to the presence in the area of a necropolis, a cave tomb and a proto-urban settlement from the Bronze Age, it has not received maintenance interventions for at least fifty years. It therefore presents numerous signs of deterioration such as to make a possible recovery of the tower challenging.
The views of the bay and the coast that could be observed from the terrace are now a distant memory.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Torre spagnola costruita per fronteggiare le incursioni saracene che minacciavano le coste pugliesi. Panorama mozzafiato, si può apprezzare buona parte del lato meridionale della Litoranea Salentina, da Torre Ovo fino a Luogovivo. A vista tutte le altre torri costiere. Luogo meraviglioso e punto di riferimento storico. Purtroppo, come la maggior parte dei pezzi di storia del nostro territorio è abbandonata a sé stessa. Speriamo che venga presto ripristinata e rivalutata come merita.
Spanish tower built to face the Saracen raids that threatened the coast of Puglia. Amazing view, you can appreciate much of the southern side of the Salento Seaside, from Torre Ovo up to Luogovivo. To view all the other coastal towers. Wonderful venue and historical landmark. Unfortunately, like most pieces of history of our country it is left to itself. We hope that it will soon be restored and re-evaluated as it deserves.
