Smallish but very good museum dedicated mainly to the history of the textile industry of Prato but also includes a good section on the different materials used in fabrics. And the piece-de-resistance is the "museum" of old fabrics and costumes. Stunning.

When we went to Prato last spring Google Maps still sent us somewhere far away and we spent quite some time to find it inside the city walls. Obviously they have changed that now and people can find this splendid pear of a museum more easily. It was very well presented, friendly people ready to tell some story about the past - and the objects: wow! And if you think that all this technology has been substituted by modern machinery not really a long time ago! AND to imagine what a HUGE PROGRESS such a fabric production was in comparison with weaving and producing everything manually! And what hard work to heat the oven to produce the steam which ran the machines! And then the possibility to see and touch the raw material from which fabric is created: fantastic! A beautiful trip into our - not too distant - history!

Wonderful museum. Having arrived in Prato, I had not realised it's history and prominence in the textile trade. After visiting this great museum it became clear. Lots of costumes and history presented in a clear and interesting way. Great gift shop too. Worth s visit

One of the best museum experiences I had! But I'm also biased since I really love this industry. Museum is small so you don't get tired and can pay attention to everything.

Amazing museum that explains to you everything that has to do with the production of the clothes - from the very beginning of taking a raw material to creating the finishing fabric !! Plus they have inside machineries to show its purpose back in the years with explanation next to each and every one of them . The staff in the entrance is very polite and helpful ! At the end(which is also the entrance! ) there is also a souvenir shop!

The museum it is a very well organized show. We could apreciate well the history of Prato and his texile industry. Only bad point we suffered was the person at the ticket desk. She forced too stay outside we 2 kids under the sun with 35 Β° C until she managed 2 people. Very cold welcome, like she was bothered about something. On the way out while in the shop, in front the desk ticket, again she was rude with other 2 tourist because of the language barrier acting like that were stupid and "they" should know the procedures...... Except this bad point I strongly suggest the visit on this museum.
