Very good ... very very nice concert ...

An icon of Lonigo. Too bad it was closed for a long time

The Teatro Comunale di Lonigo was born from the need to replace the eighteenth-century Teatro dei Concordi (owned by an elite of citizens of the nobility and the upper middle class) with a more “democratic” theater, accessible also to the white-collar class and, sometimes, a worker and peasant, which had been affirmed during the nineteenth century. The project was entrusted to the architect Giovanni Carraro and the works began in July 1891 and ended in 1892. But only the essential part (the exterior was not completed) of the project was executed and the inauguration took place on 23 October 1892, with "Ballo in Maschera" by Giuseppe Verdi. On the stage of the Teatro Comunale, lyric and prose performances alternated until 1977, with the participation of important names from the world of opera and prose. Unfortunately the theater was later transformed into a cinema, which led to the building in such a state of degradation that it was necessary to close it in order to proceed with the restoration works. The restoration work lasted over ten years and finally on October 22nd 1993 the Teatro Comunale reopened its doors with a large lyrical concert. During the restoration, a building of clear modern lines was added to the existing structures, the work of the architect Arnaldo Regagioli, to compensate for the lack of efficient dressing rooms, services, and disengagement rooms for an opera house. This new element, which presents a sober alternation of full and empty spaces, formed the facade of the Theater. In the corridors with large windows there is a space used for art exhibitions. Inside the theater has remained unchanged. The foyer has a decoration in pink, olive green and cream wood (work of the Giuseppe Caraloni carver) in a vague liberty style, with loggias on the upper floors opening onto the entrance. The pictorial decoration of the room is the original one by the Venetian Giuseppe Dolcetta, who in the sparkling pink-blue round ceiling represented the Triumph of Apollo and in the proscenium beautiful cherubs and bursting bouquets of flowers. The decoration of the boxes with trophies of arms and festoons in ivory, olive green and gold is always by Regagioli, like the beautiful frieze on the proscenium, which presents two griffins holding up a clock. The armchairs are in red velvet, a color taken from the curtain with the emblem of the city of Lonigo and golden edges. The lighting of the foyer and the hall is very elegant, the work of Murano glass masters. It should be remembered that the Comunale di Lonigo is the only historical theater of the nineteenth century in the Province of Vicenza.

With a group of friends, we visited the G.VERDI theater in Lonigo on a visit. I recommend it, it is a gem for both architecture and acoustics. It is small but very beautiful, it deserves to be seen

Beautiful theater in the heart of the town. Italian theater with boxes is a capacity of about 600 seats. Armchairs quite comfortable and good visibility. Well equipped stage with wooden and American electrified pitches. Possibility of having a mystical gulf for orchestra.

Nice old style theater great acoustics

Renovated environment of Central European style, excellent acoustics, scenic involvement, very good visibility: the result, a much appreciated concert.

Very nice theater, small, well maintained, excellent acoustics. It is always suggestive and pleasant to attend performances. Very high professionalism of the staff, especially in the ticket office.
