★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Parcul Villa Garibaldi desi se intinde pe o suprafata destul de mica este plin de ficusi inalti, spectaculosi ca dimensiuni. Statuia lui Nicolae Balcescu -bust- este plasata pe o laterala a parcului , impreuna cu altele. Pe statuie este inscriptionat "Mare istoric, Patriot roman".
Villa Garibaldi Park, although it covers a fairly small area, is full of tall fig trees, spectacular in size. The statue of Nicolae Balcescu -bust- is placed on one side of the park, along with others. On the statue is inscribed "Great historian, Romanian Patriot".

Ebbe vita molto movimentata, da tipico rivoluzionario risorgimentale.
Fu arrestato varie volte e partecipò in Francia ai moti del 1848. Fu introduttore in Romania degli studi sociali ed economici di spirito liberale. Lo ricordiamo fondamentalmente per la sua opera Storia dei Romeni sotto Michele il Bravo (1878) nel quale rappresenta il monarca come simbolo dell'unità nazionale.
Fu inoltre direttore e fondatore della Rivista storica della Dacia, chiusa nel 1847 dal regime.
Colpito ed indebolito dalla tubercolosi gli ultimi anni gira per la Sicilia e la Francia e muore all'età di 33 anni a Palermo. È sepolto a Palermo al Cimitero monumentale dei Rotoli (Madonna del Rotolo) nella fossa comune n. 5.
Nicolae Bălcescu (Bucharest, 1819 - Palermo, 1852) was a Romanian revolutionary.
He had a very eventful life, as a typical Risorgimento revolutionary.
He was arrested several times and took part in the riots of 1848 in France. He was the introducer of social and economic studies of a liberal spirit in Romania. We remember him fundamentally for his work History of the Rumanians under Michele il Bravo (1878) in which he represents the monarch as a symbol of national unity.
He was also director and founder of the historical magazine of Dacia, closed in 1847 by the regime.
Affected and weakened by tuberculosis, the last few years he traveled around Sicily and France and died at the age of 33 in Palermo. He is buried in Palermo in the monumental Cemetery of the Rotoli (Madonna del Rotolo) in the common grave n. 5.
