Il monumento, opera dell'artista locale Vincenzo Santini , riporta sulla base bassorilievi che celebrano eventi versiliesi importanti ("la bonifica", "il commercio", "la scuola d'arte").
The monument, erected in the nineteenth century by the citizens of Pietrasanta, is an act of gratitude to the Grand Duke Leopold II Lorraine who in 1841 had declared Pietrasanta "noble city". The monument, a work by local artist Vincenzo Santini, reports bas-reliefs celebrating important Versilian events ("reclamation", "commerce", "art school").
