Good and fairly clean beach near fascinating ruins only 1 hour train ride from Rome

Beautiful beach in a lovely town.

In Italy the law allows people to access the beach on the water edge (5 m from the water line) freely and to stay there to bath. No payment is due. Of course the owners of bathhouses will always tell you that this is not true and that the city hall has issued other rules. However the cities have to conform to the national law, as the beaches are owned by the State. So we went there to stay an hour or so ad looked to find a free area. None was to be found, the whole beach was covered with beach umbrellas. So we decided to go to the front of the beach of this bathhouse and stay there. After only a couple of minutes I was approached by one of the "bagnini" (sort of lifeguards, I would rather call them bouncers. I was verbally attacked by this guy who used vulgar language. He and a colleague who came after told me that i could no stay and that they would show me the rules. Needless to say , they never showed anything. So, next time you go there you might well do the same. Otherwise avoid as hell... Versione riassunta in italiano: Mi sono fatto aggredire verbalmente con parolacce dai buttafuori (non lo definirei dei bagnini) di questo stabilimento perché ho usato del mio diritto di accedere alla battigia e di farmi un bagmo con la famiglia. Avevo poco tempo e nessun bisogno di un ombrellone o sedia a sdraio. I due energumeni hanno detto che mi avrebbero mostrato l'ordinanza del Comune in materia. Ovviamente non l'hanno fatto e me la sono andata a cercare io stesso. In effetti, come dappertutto, i concessionari non hanno diritto di impedire l'accesso alla battigia. E nessun divieto è fatto ai bagnanti di fermarsi e fare un bagno. Quindi, la possima volta che andate lì fate come noi o evitate questo posto come la peste.

Small beach, beautifully clear water but watch your sun beds as someone moved all of our towels and items off our sun beds for no reason as many more empty avalable in front of us. Many toilets around but showers you have to pay for. I suggest getting her early as is an hours train ride from rome termini. The ticket price is only €3.50 an adult each way

The location and beach is excellent. Especially for families. The breakwater stops any sort of wave action and the water is shallow and very warm. The sand is immaculate. There are lots of kids playing around and you can borrow beach toys (inflatables, balls etc) for free. It cost €27 for an umbrella and 2 sun loungers for the day. We stayed for 10 hours, leaving at 7 so not too bad in terms of value. You have to pay 50c for a hot shower though. For a day trip from Rome it is ideal, only 1 hour from termini and a short walk from anzio station.

Lovely little beach especially for small children. Sunbeds and Umbrellas for rent... Negotiate price, pay less on slow days. The beach was very clean. The water was Crystal clear and pleasant to be in due to the wave breakers. We had ice cream and drinks, but unfortunately did not have dinner as the restaurants do not reopen until 7. However there is a large selection of eateries in the area that were very full at lunch. We took an hour train ride from Rome to the beach, though a bit of a walk down and back up a hill from the train station. One of my best days in Rome vicinity. I would recommend this for a break from the city. Oh I forgot my swimsuit and was able to buy one (larger size) from a traveling vendor on the beach!

Beautiful public beach in the amazing city of Anzio!!! Beautiful view and sea to go close by the city!! Nice fish restaurant and good price!
