(Professoressa Ileana Tozzi)
Once upon a time, in the church of San Pietro Martire, there was an all-female altar brotherhood named after Sant'Agata. The sisters of Sant'Agata were famous for the donuts and refreshments offered and generously repaid by the offerings of the faithful, so conspicuous that during the sixteenth century they turned to the Torresani workshop for the decoration of the niche on the right wall of the church. At the beginning of the seventeenth century, the pictorial enterprise would have been replicated by Ascanio Manenti, author of a valuable canvas juxtaposed on the same wall. (Professor Ileana Tozzi)
